The Beetle was originally a masked crimefighter from Smash City. He claims to have been bitten by a radioactive beetle when he was but a nerdy college student. This gave him powers beyond those of mortal men including the proportional strength of a beetle, an indestructible exo-skeleton, and 136 beetle senses to warn him of imminent danger. These claims have not been verified, but his description matches an escapee from the Smash City Home for the Sanity Challenged. Realizing his wrestling potential, Dick Turpis invited The Beetle to be his tag team parter at Kickin' Ass on the Grass. Wanted by the Smash City PD and hounded by the Canadian Mafia, The Beetle jumped at the chance. He has since risen the ranks in the WWC to become the World Heavyweight Champion with the help of his parter, a seemingly inanimate chair dubbed the Beetlechair.
When GDP was elected President of the WWC, he forced The Beetle to team up with Hank Newcastle in a Loser Leaves Town tag team match. Due to the long history of bad blood between these two men, they lost the match and were kicked out of the WWC. Commissioner Travis Dale gave Hank and The Beetle one last match at Kickin' Ass on the Grass III, where he and Hank went out on top, defeating GDP and Major Threat.
Currently, The Beetle has returned to a life of crime fighting in Smash City. He still gets a little misty eyed if you start talking about the WWC.
